We have loved living in Radnor’s 6th Ward for 35 years. During the last four years, we have been most fortunate to have been served by Jake Abel, a commissioner whose core values – political transparency, fiscal responsibility, non-partisan approach to governance and a love of our resplendent parks – match our own.

While we are a household that is split politically, we vote for candidates based on how we feel they will best address the issues that are most important to us and our neighbors. All of our neighbors.

During his tenure as Ward 6 Commissioner, Jake Abel has a long list of accomplishments, including:

  • Partnered with neighbors and the township to complete the Morris Road Streetscape Project, making the road safer by fixing sidewalks, curbing, adding new cross walks, and protecting the tree scape for the next generation of Radnor residents.
  • Fought to restrict anonymous donations to the township in an effort to ensure transparency within the community.
  • Introduced the new “Report It” platform allowing neighbors to submit concerns directly to the township.
  • Brought township and utility companies to the table to address nuisance wires on utility poles across the community.
  • Was the only member of the Board to oppose the previous township manager’s use of an “emergency” order to remove trees from township property, wasting taxpayer dollars.
  • Proposed that the township enact a tree replacement plan, in coordination with the Shade Tree Commission, to ensure the canopy in our parks and open space is protected.
  • Worked with police and fire companies to make sure our first responders are properly equipped and trained following the August 2018 flood.

Our concern for Radnor’s future has compelled us to work the polls during elections, volunteer on township Shade Tree, Planning and Design Review commissions and engage elected and prospective board of commission candidates about these and other hot-button issues: equity for all our residents; government transparency; sound environmental policies; and traffic calming.

If we fail to elect an energized and informed candidate who has made all the voters in Radnor more aware of the most relevant issues here while demonstrating his willingness to address problems through the lost art of building consensus in the township, shame on us.

On November 2nd, vote for Jake Abel, candidate for Radnor’s 6th Ward and a voice for all Radnor residents.

Don Curley, Former Ward 6 Commissioner

It is election season again. Again, this election matters. For a variety of reasons; I support Jake Abel. Here are two of my reasons.

  • Communication – Some elected officials think they “know it all” and see no reason to listen to us. Not Jake Abel! Instead, he combines age-old techniques (like knocking on doors, gathering neighbors, answering phone calls, and meeting for coffee) with new techniques (like social media, web pages, and email) to elevate communication between the elected official and the citizenry to unprecedented levels. No elected official in the history of Radnor has done more to establish and maintain communication with the citizenry than Jake.
  • Commitment to Local Issue – For some local elected officials; it has become fashionable to ignore or underserve local issues. Have none of it! We need local elected officials to concentrate on local issues. Otherwise, our streets will come to disrepair, the trash will go uncollected, the Police will be hamstrung to help us, and our kids will have no safe place to play.

Jake is the only candidate in the election with a proven record of communication with constituents and of commitment to local issues. We need him representing us in Radnor for four more years. Kindly join me in voting for Jake Abel.

Don Lewis, Highland Ave

“I’m a true blue Democrat. Only voted Republican twice in my life; for Arlen Specter and for Jake Abel. Thirty-five year resident of Radnor in Ward 6; Jake is the first commissioner since Mr. Capelli that has shown real interest in my area of the ward.”
